Codup is now a Shopware Gold Partner

For HVAC distributors

B2B customer portals that just work. Live in 90 days.

Codup launches customer portals for distributors in 90 days. They’re connected to your ERP, they help your sales team sell more instead of cutting them out, and they’re easy enough that customers keep coming back. That’s how the portal pays for itself.

See how Frank’s shop pulled it off
Previously…
Part Two: same night, different ending

Same night. Different ending.

Last time, Dave texted his order at 9:12 pm. Mike was up past 10:40 hunting for Dave’s price, and by 6:34 am Dave had walked out to “the guys with the portal.” Then Frank’s shop launched its own portal on Shopify, built by Codup, in 90 days. Here’s the same night, take two.

Day 90, go-live, 9:12 pm, the job site, a rooftop of air-conditioning units under a work light. Dave, in his hard hat, grins at his phone. It shows Frank's Furnace Supply with his price, In stock, and a Reorder button. Dave: Well, look who finally got a portal.
9:12 pm · The customer

Customers actually use it, and come back.

Their own price, live stock and a one-tap reorder of last time’s order, even at 9 pm from a job site. When ordering from you is the easiest option, they keep ordering from you.

Does Dave ever come back? He does.

9:14 pm, Mike's kitchen. Mike eats dinner with his toddler on his lap. His phone on the table reads New order: Dave, under Mike's name. Mike: Dave got his price. It's under my name.
9:14 pm · The sales rep

Works with your sales team, not against them.

Every web order goes under the name of the rep who owns the account, at the customer’s own price. Reps stop re-typing orders and looking up prices at night, and spend that time selling.

Does Mike finally figure out the pricing? The portal already did.

6:30 am, the will-call counter. Joe, a warehouse picker, hands Dave a box of 45/5 capacitors. Joe: Bin C-14. No hunting. Edith, at a screen reading Dave, picked, bin C-14: Morning, Dave. It's already pulled.
6:30 am · The counter and the warehouse

Fully connected to your ERP.

Pricing, stock, bin locations and orders flow between the portal and the ERP you already run. No one re-types an order, and the counter sees exactly what the customer ordered.

Is Joe still looking for that box? Not anymore.

Two weeks later, 11:05 am, mid-job. Dave stands on a commercial roof beside an open rooftop unit, a drill in one hand and his phone in the other, next to an empty box of 45/5 capacitors. An inset shows his phone: Frank's Furnace Supply, Same-day delivery, Arrives by 2 pm. Dave: Out of capacitors. They'll be here by two. Never left the roof.
Two weeks later · The rooftop

Same-day refills, ordered mid-job.

When a crew runs short, the order goes in from the phone in their pocket, against live branch stock, in time for your same-day run.

Did Dave climb down to call it in? Never left the roof.

Month end, Frank's office. A caption box introduces him: Meet Andy. Finance manager. Hard to impress. Andy shows Frank a laptop reading Month-end close: Portal orders checked, ERP checked, Reconciled. Andy: Every portal order is already in the ERP. The books tie out. Frank: And nobody had to stop working? Andy: Not for a day.
Month end · Finance

The books reconcile. The business never stops.

Every portal order lands in the ERP as an ordinary sales order, with the right account, price and tax, so month-end reports tie out without re-keying.

Andy runs Frank’s finance. He’s hard to impress.

Six months later, Frank's office. Frank, the owner, leans back with his hands behind his head, looking at a chart climbing upward. Frank: Huh. It already paid for itself.
Six months later · The owner

It pays for itself.

More orders through the same team. Customers coming back, reps selling, the counter and the books running as they always have.

Frank’s one regret? Taking two years to pull the trigger.

A Codup comic ·  Part Two

Frank's one regret. Frank sits on his desk holding a coffee mug and looks at the reader: Two years to decide. Ninety days to do it.

Frank isn’t the only one who took two years.

So why do these projects take so long, and never get done?

Because the people who have to live with the portal aren’t asked what they need until it’s almost built. They’re asked to test it days before go-live, and the real requirements turn up less than a week before launch.

Around the table, everyone wants something different…

  1. Ray, IT manager
    ITNobody touches my ERP.
  2. Andy, finance manager
FinanceHow do I get my reports?
  3. Mike, sales rep
SalesWill online orders still go under my name?
  4. Nina, eCommerce and marketing
MarketingWe built one two years ago. Nobody used it.
  5. Frank, the owner
OwnershipHow do we grow without adding headcount?

Meanwhile, two years later…

Dave, the customer
Dave, the customerI’ve been waiting two years. When will this work?
Frank's advice. In the same office, Frank stands by a whiteboard headed 20 minutes with Asim, with three ticked boxes: what you want to achieve, where you're stuck, live in 90 days. Coffee mug in hand, he points at the reader: Tell Asim where you're stuck.

20 minutes with Asim, in San Diego

Frank’s advice to any owner still stuck at that table: go talk to Asim. He’s at HARDI all week, walking the floor and meeting distributors, and at booth #540 for three and a half hours on Wednesday afternoon. Twenty minutes, three things:

  1. What do you want to achieve? Tell Asim what the portal has to do for your business.
  2. Where are you stuck? The ERP nobody wants to touch, the people who can’t agree, the portal nobody used. All fair game.
  3. We’ll tell you how to get unstuck and get it done in 90 days.

A working conversation, not a pitch. Twenty minutes won’t finish your plan. You’ll walk away knowing what goes first on your to-do list, whether or not you ever work with us.

He has sat at that table with the IT manager, the finance team, the reps and the owner, heard every reason a portal project stalls, and taken projects live anyway.

“We could not have digitally matured this quickly without Codup. Asim is an incredible listener and facilitator.”

VP of Operations, AllTerra Central, a Trimble dealer (Clutch review, 2026)

Why trust us with the 90 days?

Because we’ve done it for manufacturers and distributors with messy catalogs, picky ERPs and dealers who don’t like change.

DMF Lighting

Millions of product configurations, quoted online

Reps and distributors were quoting a hugely configurable catalog by hand. Codup built a CPQ on Shopify Plus, connected to Oracle.

If it slows down how you sell, quote or serve, come talk to us.

Dealers calling for prices. Reps typing orders from emails. Warranty claims in an inbox. An ERP nobody wants to touch. If something in how you sell feels harder than it should, we’ve probably built a fix for it, or we’ll tell you honestly that we haven’t.

More of what we’ve built for distributors

The portal is the start. Each of these connects to your ERP, and most are a quick demo away.

Contractor loyalty and training

Tiers, pricing and perks that reward your best contractors, as in GeoShield’s dealer journey, plus the product training we built into AllTerra’s system.

See how it works

Price and stock app

A phone app for contractors, counter staff and field reps: real-time price and branch stock from your ERP, no app store.

Mobile apps

Ordering apps for your contractors and your reps, on the same pricing, stock and accounts as the portal.

See how it works

CPQ: configure, price, quote

Reps and distributors quote even a hugely configurable catalog online, at the right price. Built for DMF Lighting on Shopify Plus.

Product configurators

Walks buyers through specs, checks what fits together, and returns a unique SKU, a spec sheet and a live price.

AI order automation

Order sheets, even messy scans, are read and written into your ERP at the customer’s contract price. Live in weeks, no portal needed.

Part One
Part One, six panels. 9:12 pm, the job site, a rooftop of air-conditioning units: Dave, in his hard hat, frowns at his phone: That's not my price. And where's the stock? So Dave does what Dave always does: he texts, pls send 6 x the 45/5 caps + same as last order. 9:14 pm, Mike's kitchen: Mike, holding his toddler at dinner, reads the text: This guy again. Mike, I need some help here! 10:40 pm: Mike in bed with a laptop and papers: What did we charge him last time?! 6:30 am, the will-call counter: Edith tells Dave: Honey, it's not in the system. Let me go see. 6:34 am: Dave walks out, tapping his phone: Forget it. I'll order from the guys with the portal. His phone shows Order placed.
